THIRTY YEARS OF HISTORY TOLD IN THREE LOGOS
by Adriana Pina
70 - End of decade, PINAMAK is founded with the purpose of buying and selling machinery, parts and industrial equipment for cargo handling. Up to that time, the company begins to take its first steps in the market, with hard work, challenges and without a logo! And even in the face of the military regime’s economic, political and social uncertainties, it goes for the area of industrial maintenance services.
80 - The first steps towards long distance were taken. Increase in the number of customers as Brahma, Exxon Química, the Federal Railroad Network, the Brazilian Navy and its longest relationship: Petrobras, which led it to other municipalities as Duque de Caxias, Volta Redonda and to the state of Espírito Santo. There is no question that the largest step of the decade was to the city of Macaé, where the company was one of the pioneers in the city's port in handling and marine support services for Campos Basin, which was also starting its production via Garopa, Enchova, Pampo, Cherne and Namorado rigs.
The company expands its services business with Petrobras in the activities of Aviation and Off Shore. Aircrafts fueling and kerosene and aviation gasoline storage (QAV1 and GAV100) at various airports and air bases, including Rio de Janeiro’s International Airport. It starts the activities of handling, receipt, storage, control of fuel in movable tanks providing also specialized technical staff to aircrafts fueling at offshore rigs.
Aiming an improved compliance with its business and customers, its head office was built at Bonsucesso neighborhood, in the city of Rio de Janeiro as well as its first logo. Conceived between friends, it was characterized by simplicity: the word PINAMAK with a dash above the family name Pina, similar to Petrobras with a dash above the word BR, plus a picture of a forklift at the side and that is it!

90 - The decade was characterized by the consolidation and diversification of operations in several Brazilian states with Petrobras and other companies in the same activity branch, by the start of Macaé branch construction, an ambitious 35 thousand square meters project, and by the entry of the second generation in the company, which together with professionals sought to create a symbol to communicate movement and action in the country. The logo will change to follow the movement of the company.
Our technical services portfolio was already wide and at the same time abstract (46 services items just in the Petrobras national register), thus hampering a single symbol. Thus the word PINAMAK got into a circle and right above the map of Brazil. The dash above the family name Pina was kept and another dash was added separately on the rest of the word mak. The simultaneous expansion of the two dashes out of the circle was communicating the idea of movement in the country. That was the second logo!
The decade was also marked by the creation of Supply-House, a model followed by Petrobras for its supply and storage logistics in Brazil. Thus we started to act as operators of Petrobras stores and terminals in the states of Santa Catarina, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Bahia, Sergipe and Rio Grande do Norte. Since then, a national system for support to oil activities in the producing states was working and PINAMAK was proud to take part and contribute to that project for supply of chemicals to various types of fuels.
In 96 we were the first operator of BR’s Natural Gas Base (BAGÁS) together with Duque de Caxias Refinery in Rio de Janeiro. In 99 we worked with environmental cleaning and remediation in Carmópolis, Riachuelo, Siriri bases and oil processing stations (oil and gas pipelines) in the states of Sergipe and Alagoas. That same year, we performed watered Christmas trees maintenance services (ANMs) in Parque de Tubos in Macaé and started bulk plant operations in Bahia and Espírito Santo.
2000 - The second generation takes place in the company management and brings together defined goals: to maintain, innovate, professionalize and grow.
Training programs, development and sector restructuring were cautiously carried out together with marketing and internal marketing for cultural change processes. Goals systems and evaluation and functional performance programs were implemented.
Quality and Management for Integrated Logistics Programs were developed via software with tools for customized service to customers and traceability of their products and inventory (Warehouse Management System - WMS). ISO 9001 Certificate confirmed the commitment taken.
The social program was called PINAMAK, each Contract an Institution! Which supports, with financial or food assistance, institutions in several Brazilian states.
The Macaé branch is consolidated as a Logistics Operations Base of the company to attend the various companies in the energy sector. And in this manner, the decade beats its growth records.
In 2007, PINAMAK celebrates its 30 years changing the head office address for Barra da Tijuca neighborhood, in Rio de Janeiro, and took in its baggage the third and current logo, which combined the tradition and power of the word PINAMAK in the market with innovation by placing a symbol in the form of a three-dimensional cube whose content is the letter P to show movement and a new product: Solutions in Logistics. This cube aimed to communicate concepts from the very foundations of logistics as the form of a hangar, packaging, storage, preservation and protection to the services provided to our customers.
And so this is the story of PINAMAK, which follows the changes in its time, which has in its values the force of tradition, and which constantly seeks quality and innovation for its prospection on the market today.
